I think if 90 million people were protesting, there would be states on fire at this point.
Yes, well, if you put it that way...however I took it to be the proverbial "they" and not as literally. I posted that for the protest video. The personal commentary was eh. Also, if 90 Million people were protesting, you wouldn't have to ask me about it. You could ask any one of the twenty protesters in your front yard.

I wasn't bringing attention to the masses of protesters or even how large a number (or small) of non voting protesters. It's that those that couldn't be bothered with averting the upset are now loudly blaming the rest of us for allowing it to happen. I'm astounded that they aren't pointing their fingers at themselves.

Actually it kind of sounded like that's what you were saying but it's all cool, man...I probably misread your intent.

For a lot of people, look at it from their point of view.
They felt they either had the choice to vote for one corrupt politician, another corrupt politician or piss their vote away on a 3rd party candidate.
Everybody pissed and moaned about how awful the choices were this time so it can't be that shocking that some skipped it all.
That's like telling me I simply have to vote for either Darth Vader, Hitler or one of the 3 Stooges to have the same freedom of speech that you and others would enjoy.

Either way this would have happened.
Say all these people voted for Hillary and she won, then Donald's people are out there screaming now that the fix was in and Hillary stole the election.
This is just going to be our way of life from now on.

It's all good. I've not been here very long. It takes a while to learn to speak Jesse.

I get what you say. I struggled for days about what I needed to do. I almost skipped voting. It wouldn't be the first time, but this time I saw a genuine threat. I was pissed that my vote was forced and what I really wanted had been ostracized by what I saw as nefarious means. Is it really a democracy if the only choices they allow us are, as you said, Hitler or the Three Stooges? The process is broken (please don't invite them here) and the only way to fix it is to replace the whole damn lot of them. If government appointments weren't life long leisurely opulence maybe our government wouldn't so closely parallel organized crime. But I lack the knowledge and means to begin to understand how to change it.

I'm hoping trump is just a bumble with its teeth pulled. But like you said, whatever comes, it's what we got.

And 10 minutes after they were all replaced, it would be exactly the same (we're dealing with human beings here).

I have zero illusions that my side is far superior to the other side but we always move forward, never backward and we are inclusive.
I'll always prefer a flawed system trying to do the right thing, than a "perfect" one that knows what makes America GREAT again.

I wonder who will be the first person to say: "I trumped Trump!"

Yeah but just think how refreshing those ten minutes would be.

I know. Power and corruption. They go hand in hand.

It would just be nice if our politicians would remember the government belongs to us and not vice versa.

A mixed day today - on the one hand, the President-elect tried to distance himself from the extreme right wing people who have been cheering him on. He condemns, disavows and condemns them. Probably a sound political move on his part.

On the other hand, we have an example of the President-elect's lack of understanding of his role and the importance of what he says now, even before he is inaugurated. He stated that he will pull out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (a big trade deal with lots of Asian countries, and the US, but without China). This was part of Obama's pivot to Asia and a lot of political effort was expended persuading countries to ratify it. With one statement, Trump has undermined all that. The result must surely be joyful celebration in Beijing. They must be delirious with this early Thanksgiving present. Their diplomatic message will be that the US is a fickle friend that can't be trusted and that is only playing in the Pacific. China is resident there and a more reliable partner (with loads of money to splash out on compliant regimes).
American diplomats and trade negotiators must be tearing their hair out. Making China great again, wasn't it?
