I've been sparing you guys, but the stuff with my Mom goes on and on. It's incredible.
For example, here are the events of the last 3 days:

Phone rings: "Hello this is Presbyterian hospital, we have your mother here after she had a reaction to her insulin at the rehab, she is isolated due to positive covid test, and should be released back to rehab on Sunday."

Today - Sunday: "Hi this is your mothers' case manager, do you know she insists on coming home even though she is unable to get out of bed? Do you have home care set up for her?"

No, I don't, and I can't do it either. She has covid; tested positive for it on the 11th, 2 days ago. You cannot get home care for covid positive people at this point. Can't afford it anyway.
Mom has a phone in her room there so I can actually speak to her.

I call Mom in her hospital room. It did not go well. She tried to use lies about her condition and threats against me to make me be her home care nurse.
As a lifelong smoker I really don't want covid, and I'm not a home care nurse and simply cannot do that stuff. The conversation went on as you can imagine.
She will go back to rehab, but not the one she was in; there is only 1 place in town that will take covid positive patients.

    Dodged a bullet for now.

I've done kind of ok readying for periods without heat, but, kicking myself for not having realized this much sooner, I've begun a transition to a post-public electricity existence.

In a very modest beginning, I've purchased these

I bought the expensive solar panel because it works the best with the power station, is foldable and portable, and high quality. I'll first do a setup for portable emergency living, in my truck, then see about more permanent stuff when family things settle down and I know if I'll stay here in this house or go.
It's starting to look like I may have to live off-grid, as energy costs will no longer be something I can afford. I'm thinking maybe sell and move to the boonies somewhere, if I have to live off grid anyway.
    Nobody's laughing at preppers anymore.

My HEVC/H.265/x265 videos can be played with either VLC or MPC-HC

Do your demons, do they ever let you go..?
When you've tried, do they hide, deep inside..?
Is it someone that you know..?

There's a guy I followed on youtube for years, funny and entertaining. He would sometimes post 'roast' videos making fun of people who did the same thing as him.
He had posted a roast of a person, and this person killed them self recently. He is being blamed online and has deleted his content and disappeared.
I feel terrible for both of them.

Now that I have bought an LG phone, LG stops making phones.

^^^^^Not surprising, considering that both Apple and Samsung are the major players in the market. And that's what people buy the most, these days.
Even Oppo is somewhat struggling to sell their new phone (lots of TV ads popping up, recently).
But, don't worry. You'll still get support from LG for at least a year or so, should you have any problem, and they will definitely honor their warranty.
Unlike Samsung which, sometimes, just blows, when it comes to honor their warranty.

youtube has been preventing videos loading in my recommended if I have uBlock running, which I always do on youtube. If I disable uBlock and reload that page the vids appear as usual.

Can anyone else confirm this, or is it just me?

^ Can't confirm, but I found that opening a site in a Private Window got around any ad block or cookie blocking issues. I use Vivaldi, but it might work in other browsers, too. Worth a try.
