Well, as I stated, RS will stay as a required host. As far as Mega being added to that list, if the majority feel it would be workable, I'll go along with it on the required list too.

If hosts go bye bye, we can always remove them if needed. I just want to expand this list with what we think will work for now without using pure cash hosts... I'm sure it will keep changing, the whole situation is going to be far from stable for who knows how long.

I wouldn't advocate for Mega as a required right now anyway, just a secondary and somewhere down the road re-evaluate

But that is for me, who uploads a ton of stuff, and not into making $$$, isn't interested in uploading to rinkydinkuploads.com and six months from now lose it all and be looking for something else. Stability is my main concern, RS has made quite a few significant changes that aren't exactly user friendly, but I'll stick with them because they are reliable, and you don't have to use paymentsrus.com to pay for membership. All you have to do is think back a year ago as to what host we all were using...most of them are gone. That didn't see where this was going are gone, those who won't adapt will follow shortly, and the days of cash whoring is on the endangered species list. Secured links, JDownloader, cloud hosting, and all sorts of restrictions is where we are at, those that can't or refuse to adapt will join the file sharing retirement communtiy, those who can will plug a long until such a time comes where's what's new becomes old.
I agree. Since the days of BBS's and Newsgroups, it has been the rule that the poster chooses the method of posting and the receivers of their gift adapt and learn how to download it. For some reason, since the advent of web based file sharing, this has gotten reversed. As far as I'm concerned, most of the people on the web are spoiled brats. They want everything for free, but they don't want to have to push more than two buttons to get it. The idea that to keep them from "jumping through hoops", you make the content poster "jump through hoops" is ass backwards. If they don't like the link host, don't click on it. I can see limiting the host lists to keep out problem causers, but if the only reason is because it takes a little extra effort, then that's just ridiculous.

Sometimes they don't want to push more than one button.

When content was considered to be used here my preference for primaries were non-cash whore, user friendly yada yada, but things have changed a few times since then. Whatever host a posters uses should know the ups and downs of the service they use. Harder to use hosts may get fewer downloads, more user friendly = more downloads and so on. I still like non-cash hosts for primary but the user friendly part to me now is something we have to deal with. Mega IMO is primary material. I also hate sites that you might have to register for to even get a download. Stability is a concern but lets be real as stability in file hosting is shabby at best. I download nearly everything using torrents mostly because I get max download speeds so there is a lot of file hosts I am not familiar with.

Well then, does this work for everyone ??

    Primary Hosts:

    1fichier.com
    Bayfiles
    Mega
    Mediafire
    Hotfile
    Netkups
    Packupload
    Putlocker
    Rapidshare

None of these require registration to download from as far as I know. Any that do will not be considered.

As far as secondaries allowed, there may be a couple we could add once I check another one out.

^^^ I must be really out of touch with things these days, as I've never even heard of several of those filehosts before now.

Personally, I don't like, nor do I use, torrents. As far as porn is concerned, I get just about everything directly from the source, by which I mean the paysites. I don't pay for it, but I get it. Music, I get from various internet sources that are off the beaten path, and which are more reliable and less hassle than warez boards.

At the end of the day, it's just a matter of preference.

I will use torrents but only if I "change my ip" there are numerous companies out there putting out there own stuff to catch people, which is really BS.
