Much of Terrible 2012 Drought is Gone!

I'm not saying it can't come back again real quick, and man if that drought had continued it would have been a real horror story for all of us!

But for now we have relief and things look good

People want to hear bad news.

    Crying parents tell their children
If you survive don't do as we did
A son exclaims there'll be nothing to do to
Her daughter says she'll be dead with you...

Because you never hear the word Good News and Airline in the same sentence.

Southwest flies stranded Houston customers out of flooded airport.

    Code:
    http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/27/us/southwest-humanitarian-airlift-hobby-airport/index.html
(CNN)Southwest Airlines airlifted around 500 of its customers out of closed Houston Hobby Airport Sunday, according to airline and US government sources with knowledge of the operation.
The Southwest customers were stranded inside the airport when the FAA closed it earlier Sunday morning. All roads to and from the airport were also closed. It was unclear how many others were stuck at the airport.
The humanitarian rescue mission underscores the severity of Hurricane Harvey's impact on the Houston area.
Five of the airline's stranded Boeing 737s flew out of the flooded airport Sunday evening back to Love Field in Dallas, according to one of the sources.

Southwest did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The airline received clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration to operate out of the closed airport, according to the two sources. Hobby Airport is expected to remain closed to all non-emergency air traffic until August 30 at the earliest, according to the FAA.
Without working airport lights at Hobby Airport, the Southwest aircraft had to move quickly before the sun set over the storm-battered city.
Separately, with those five aircraft able to depart Sunday, the airline still has 10 remaining aircraft on the ground at Hobby, according to the sources.
Hobby is the smaller of two main Houston-area commercial airports.

Hobby airport.......I lived a mile away from it in Houston.........harp flashback music plays........the year was 1981.

I went to school for 2 years and was recruited from Albuquerque by the electric power company of Houston. Score!

I was good friends with 2 married couples who had shit jobs, and they decided to go with me and try their luck at the big city. so we rented the biggest U-Haul truck and set out.

The 2 married couples went there first as I had to complete school. Before they left we sat down with a map of Houston and agreed we'd go in on a big apartment halfway between my office building and Hobby Airport, where one of the guys had landed a job as a flight instructor.

I got there and found the apartment was 1 mile from Hobby, and 14 miles from my office building. 1-year lease. (mad emoji). A discussion on what constitutes halfway ensued, I decided murder was too problematic with the new job and all.
I drove in walking pace freeway traffic 14 miles, twice a day. Sweet revenge came when the flight instructor had no students and had to take a job downtown very close to my office building so we both drove the traffic......then I switched to night shift and zoomed down the freeway on the clear side while Mr. close to work was still stuck in traffic. AHhahaha

We liked where we were and made tons of friends so we stayed there anyway. This concludes my trip down memory lane.

1981 again? No thanks, but thanks anyway. Life was tough but good. Music and fashions were a bit iffy, though.
