Some badly needed good news concerning religion:

"A group of Kenyan Muslims travelling on a bus ambushed by Islamist gunmen protected Christian passengers by refusing to be split into groups, according to eyewitnesses.

They told the militants "to kill them together or leave them alone", a local governor told Kenyan media."

Imagine the bravery of those Muslims.

i've always like manny pacquiao - he's always seemed like a "good guy" without the ego of the traditional boxing muppet

a shame then that he's having to backtrack(?) over comments he made about gay couples being "worse than animals", ostensibly because animals display no homosexual tendencies, according to the ex-slugger

the 37 year old, who made a pretty good career out of getting into an enclosed space with another chap, both wearing little else than shorts, and working up a bit of a sweat with each other while other people got very excited watching them, is trying to re-invent himself as a conservative catholic politician

at least he's had the integrity to stand by his comments, although he has apologized to those offended by his views

in that respect, he's still head and shoulders above so many other politicians that will dump a policy or perform a volte face the very moment a majority complains

well done to the good folk of santa teresita beach in buenos aires who came across a struggling baby dolphin that they discovered washed up on the sands

it takes a special breed of hero to pull the baby dolphin from the shallow water in order to pass it around so the crowd could get a picture with it, then just dump it on the beach where the dolphin died of exposure and dehydration

seriously, i would like to congratulate everyone involved in securing their precious selfie with a frightened, helpless dolphin by wishing them a horrible, painful death

oxygen is wasted on some people

thought i would revisit this 2006 clip taken from the bbc news channel that has just passed it's 10th anniversary

it concerned a discussion with an independent expert regarding the various legal cases between apple corps (the beatles, etc.) and apple computers (steve jobs, etc.) over trademark infringement

this particular clip was of special interest given that the man being questioned was a taxi driver, guy goma, who had arrived at the bbc building to interview for a job in the it department, but was mistaken for the actual tech expert due to be on the show, guy kewney, and was rushed in front of the cameras

in reception, he had been asked by the show's producer whether he was "guy", and had predictably replied that he was

he thought it was all very unusual, as makeup was applied and a microphone unit clipped to his jacket, but was keen not to make a fuss, thinking it was part of his job interview

the look on his face as the presenter introduces him under a name not his own is quite priceless

    well played, sir, well played

After years of slow internet, and a year of none, I must say:

    Fast internet is good.

I mean, pages load like *blink* and downloads that took hours or days before now go Brrrrrrrrrrzzzzipppp! I can't believe I modded for years with that slow speed, I must have been a glutton for punishment.
File hosts seem kinder right now to me, Fichier gives between 200kb and 2mb speeds for free, solidfiles gave a steady 1mbps. Hell even rapidgator was giving me 200kbps for free!
It's a whole new deal and I'm downloading like a loon.

Come spring, I may be a tub of goo surrounded by empty beer cans and cheez doodle bags but it'll be damn fun.

The Best Laugh of the month

I was watching 'The Sopranos' last night and Chris (a young mobster) was late to a meeting with Tony (the leader).
    Important meeting, very serious atmosphere.

Chris walks in and Tony says: "Where the fuck you been? You're late!"

Chris says: "Sorry, but the highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive."

I about fell out of my chair laughing.

From now on that's what I'm saying when I'm late.

Pleased to see this on a NM plate, wonder how they got it through DMV, who vet the special requests.

Note it says New Mexico USA, as many across the country think we're part of Mexico.

Even when I lived in Texas I ran across this; one guy at work asked me "How is a blue-eyed guy from Mexico?"
and New Mexico is right next door to Texas!

Maybe they should rename your state to New America.
