We may see a bright comet soon, maybe even visible in daytime. Unless it fizzles. Keep an eye out for it!

I got my new camera today. It failed to connect to the app during setup the same way the old one does, tries for 5 min then says "connection failed", along with an instruction to try restarting your router, which doesn't work. In disgust I let it sit and did other stuff. 4-5 more minutes after sitting there, the cam suddenly makes a noise and says "Setup complete"!
    - Lo and behold, it's connected and working perfectly.........and I think hmm.....did I just unplug the old one too soon after the error message and might it work now if I wait long enough?......and yes, I did, and yes, it does.

So now I have 2 cams. But it did really not work as far as I knew and nowhere is there a warning that it takes 10 minutes of sitting there to connect, plus it gives you an error message so you think it's done trying. Also it was 3 days of back and forth with support, and they didn't want the old cam back. So with that rationalization I'm keeping the 2nd cam

Oh boy. I get to figure out where to put it, and get to use the split screen on the app....mucho funola! I'm headed out to the shop, to do some other work, drink beer, and play with this.

Good news if you have Xfinity cable internet:

This means I can not only dl like a banshee, I can also have live security cam of my front porch and my Mom's house on the 2nd cam on big screen in the background while I do other stuff, which is nice and makes me think I'm cool for the next month and a half.

I need a new external hard drive. 1-2tb. Something cheap, but works perfectly.

We get 1TB (upload/download) from Century Link and 2 months we hit about half of that. and haven't got any closer than that.

After you stack about 30 different TV shows to watch on a rainy day (or faves to save), you start getting a bit picky after that.

(Will I ever watch it? Will anyone in the house watch it? Will it just take up space?..etc.)
My HEVC/H.265/x265 videos can be played with either VLC or MPC-HC
