Ok back to more or less like before, thought I had lost my bookmarks for a bit there, phew.

Very important to keep a recent backup of bookmarks, especially if you have hundreds or thousands like I do.

Thanks. I now have mine set to never check for updates now.
My HEVC/H.265/x265 videos can be played with either VLC or MPC-HC

The quantum thing actually looked kinda cool when I had it, maybe after a bit they'll make it more compatible with legacy stuff, or the legacy stuff will rewrite or whatever to work.
I definitely can't live without noscript or IDM which I paid for long ago and dearly love.

I rarely even use the NoScript...but if they want to start adding some of that other stuff again, I'll consider upgrading.
It looked pretty but it had a very Chrome feel to it and I already have one Chrome browser that I barely use.
I'm surprised they didn't even have a separate categories of addons at their site that says "addons & themes that aren't useless now".

I'm not against change but I'm sure getting tired of having a new version of something "that changes everything" foisted on me every 18-24 months.

If you create a Firefox sync account, it will save all of your bookmarks, usernames, passwords, etc. I used it when I got my new system and installed a clean version of Firefox. Signed into Sync and everything appeared.

    Question

glad we checked here before updating

will stick with 56.02 64 bit

did change to "check for updates but let me choose to install"

Question - is it better to set for "never check for updates"
(just in case it updates automatically anyway)

The first is what I had mine set for. I just assumed BMB's was set the same. I could be wrong.
I set it to never for the moment until I see what the future brings.

I guess just like Window's updates, if they want to badly enough, they can make it be installed regardless of settings.
I kept the 56.0.2 setup just in case I needed to use it again.

BTW, you can get Firefox ESR also here:

    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo...nizations/all/

This is the corporate version that gives extended support for the older version and allow you to at least install security updates if you choose.

Version numbers are different as this is Extended Release but it is comparable to v56 even though it may say v52.

    I knew I wasn't going crazy. Just semi-crazy.

It wasn't that I couldn't use it, it always started in a wrong spot when I tried to upload my images and I couldn't get it to stay where I need it too.

BTW: As a coincidence, I started using uBlock Origin this evening and I like it so far.
