Has Boris finally done it? He's been making a lot of unhelpful remarks over the past weeks and months. They are, presumably, geared for his Brexit supporters in England, but have seriously damaged trust in the negotiations. Today, he finally declared that the negotiations are over (unless the EU give in) and that it was time to prepare for a no deal Brexit. This evening, David Frost (any relation to Frosty?) cancelled the invitation for Michel Barnier to come to London on Monday. Sounds serious, but the EU leaders don't seem inclined to budge. Has Boris created a cliffhanger that he is going to fall off?

On a lighter note, I see that it has been proposed that a giant lorry park (needed for the vast queues of truck for Channel ferries expected after Brexit) should be named after Nigel Farage!! Yes! How fitting. The Nigel Farage Brexit Lorry Park. Love it.

I think on December 31 at 11:55 p.m. they'll make some kind of actual deal.

I like your optimism, but i really doubt it. The UK still wouldn't back down when the EU threatened legal action regarding the Internal Markets Bill. Boris is determined to REALLY up the ante, and I hope it blows up in his face this time...

Like Persephone, I fear Boris may have poisoned the well once too often. I hope your optimism is justified, but...

I really fear that this has Boris and his Tory buddies rubbing their hands with glee.
They try to make it look like they were pushed into a 'no deal' exit with no agreement on regulations and employment laws.
We get hit with a double whammy of a Covid recession and a Brexit recession; at which point the Tories can shout about us needing to de-regulate to get the economy going.
Bye bye employment rights, bye bye environmental rules, bye bye business and data ethics.

Great opportunity for the rich and powerful to take back the powers they lost over the last thirty years and put the rest of us back in our places.
I think the policy is Self Earned Relative Freedom Dependent On Money or SERFDOM for short

    Dom is going!!

Dominic Cummings is a Svengali type figure who stands behind Boris. Dom hates everything - government, bureaucracy, order, people who disagree with him - and delights in breaking things (and people). There has been some monumental row in Number 10 with Boris's fiancee and others involved. The Communications person resigned yesterday and Dom announced that he will be gone by the end of the year.

Which raises one big question: Dom has been seen as the one who gave Boris the ideas, policies, reactions, etc. Without Dom, whither Boris?

The plot thickens, as it always does.
