any nation should have the right to develop and deploy nuclear weaponry
only certain nations should be allowed to retain a nuclear capability
all nations should scrap their nuclear programmes and the weaponry should disappear from the planet

I voted 3 on the basis of the word "should". It won't happen, but would be nice. Option 2 is probably better for us all than Option 1. A free-for-all would be disastrous. Accidents inevitably happen.
I've voted 3 too, even though there is not a snowballs chance in hell of it happening

#3 would be nice but I voted for #2 (and apparently I'm the only one)

I'm rather afraid of the thought of Trump with a finger anywhere near a Nuclear Button, not that I really think he will win the Presidency, But then I said the same thing about George Bush, " surely he couldn't win ". A Lot of people said he actually didn't

an interesting snapshot
even as a (very) limited straw poll, i'm encouraged to see that #1 has proved unpopular and #3 seems to be the ideal, although i still can't make sense of the reasoning behind #2, despite it being the way the world seems to want it

I did vote for No#2 which means maintaining the status quo. There is such a thing like the United Nations who could really hinder certain nations from developing nuclear weapons, just if the major nations were interested in a safer world.
No#1 is idiocy for obvious reasons and sounds like some NRA-advert,
No#3 will lead into a large scale conventional World War sooner or later, when one faction really thinks it can win it (you're free to pick the opponents: US/Russia? Western-Alliance/Chinese-Empire? Atlantic/Eurasia? United-Civilized-Nations/anyone-deemed-uncivilized?)
I still trust a larger country (US/China/Russia/UK/etc) with check and balances in place than a country with a "Fearless Leader" in place that can just order stuff nuked.
Countries like North Korea or a country like Iran or Pakistan scare the shit out of me.
North Korea for obvious reasons but some of the more religious ones can have a regime change fairly quickly and then you have a religious nut with nukes.

more than the stated subject matter, this thread is perhaps better at exposing which forum members are idealists and which are actualists
