The Democratic and Republican parties have problems.

The Democrats have some big calls to make on impeachment. They've chosen a narrow issue, gathered enough evidence to have sunk any previous president, but still haven't really got the traction needed to remove Trump. They might get some additional ammunition from a couple of court cases (involving whether people have to obey subpoenas from Congress), but they haven't found the key, so far.
A bigger problem for the Democrats is that they have not yet found anyone who can reliably beat Trump in 2020. The leading contenders, Biden, Bernie and Bloomberg are all over 70, as is Elizabeth Warren. The young ones have not made much of an impression (Kamala Harris dropped out today). That leaves Pete. Is America ready to elect Pete? Not sure. They have a few months for figure it out.

The Republicans, too, have problems. On impeachment they seem solid, but that conceals two concerns. The first is that they must realise that anything they let Trump away with will be replicated (and some) by a future Democratic president and they will have to stomach that. The more sensible Senators must also be aware that they risk doing permanent damage to the reputation and effectiveness of the stable, sensible, "adult" chamber of Congress. Acquitting Trump on a purely partisan basis would poison the well of bipartisanship for a generation, just like Harry Reid and Newt Gingrich about a generation ago.
Having hitched their wagon so firmly to the President, Republicans have had to resort to some amazing verbal contortions to avoid disagreeing and to support whatever Trump said, however daft or patently false. As a result, the Republican party has become anti-fact, anti-science, anti-immigrant, and, to many people, anti anyone who isn't white. That's a big problem. What do the Republicans do after Trump? What do they stand for, what are their values? They have ditched the party's traditional values of sensible, conservative politics that gets things done. It will be very difficult to re-position the party after Trump.

None of this is good for America, of course, or for Americans.

I keep waiting for some popular Dem to declare. Oprah or Michelle could maybe beat Trump, but Oprah has enough money she doesn't have to get into politics.
Michelle has enough now, too. Hillary? Swimming in it, $45 million. Just her.

But you never know, anything could happen. Still waiting for someone else to drop into it.

It seems like a Methodist church in California has pissed quite a few Republicans/Christians off.

Apathy their stepping stone, so unfeeling...
    Hidden deep animosity, so deceiving...
Through your eyes their light burns, hoping to find...
Inquisition sinking you with prying minds..
