Texas hypocrites is an oxymoron.
Of course they voted no for Hurricane Sandy because that happened to someone else.
If I ever had to move back there, I'd pick either San Antonio again or maybe Austin,
because the asshole Texan factor is minimal in those two places,
but for the most part...I don't miss living in the state at all.

San Antonio is nice. I was stationed there back in 1979. It seemed more like New Mexico then like the rest of Texas.
There appears to be some kind of competition between the states to see who can be the biggest assholes. I guess Texas feels like they have to step it up a notch.

I though I'd bump this one as it's going to be relevant soon.
Hurricane Harvey And The Potential Hypocrisy Of Texas Republicans

“The problem with that particular bill,” Cruz said of the Sandy package on MSNBC, “is it became a $50 billion bill that was filled with unrelated pork. Two-thirds of that bill had nothing to do with Sandy, and what I said then and still believe now is that it’s not right for politicians to exploit a disaster and people hurting to pay for their own political wishlist.”
Cruz seems to be referring to the fact that only $17 billion of the package was for immediate relief and recovery needs, while other spending was for longer-term projects.
Notwithstanding Cruz’s call for a moratorium on “political sniping,” some New York and New Jersey Republicans couldn’t help but take a few shots at the Texas delegation on Monday, even as they affirmed that they would support those people in need.
Rep. Peter King, whose district encompasses parts of Long Island, tweeted that he wouldn’t “abandon Texas the way Ted Cruz did New York;” New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie called the Texas lawmakers “hypocrites;” and Rep. Frank LoBiondo of the Garden State tweeted that despite the stance of his Texas colleagues on the Sandy relief package, he would support emergency money for their constituents.
Overall, 23 of the 24 Texas Republicans then in the House voted against the Sandy package. And joining Cruz in opposing it was the state’s other senator, John Cornyn (who’s now that chamber’s majority whip).

I lived in Texas for 10 years.
I like Texas and I like Texans. I lived in Houston and feel really bad for what is happening there. Good God.
But that does sound hypocritical, how could they not imagine they would need the same help themselves sometime?

I know, right..? Texas is a coastal state.
I know that the rest of them will give Texas the money they need and rightfully so,
but they've got to spend a few minutes making Ted Cruz eat shit because it's the right thing to do.
I know there's a lot more of them but Ted is the face of the asshole obstinate Texas Republican, so this hypocritical fuck should get all the blame.

I don't remember the specifics, such as dates, so bear with me. Maybe you know this info Frosty.
A number of decades ago, before Katrina hit NOLA, there was a storm thaat I believe hit Galveston. At the time, they recieved a minimal payout or possibly next to zero payout from the feds and TX had bragged aboout not needing BIG government. Officials said TX could handle the situation themselves. When Katrina hit, there was a lot of money spent on LA duringthat recovery and there were certain sentiments of, Wow, when TX got hit, they got nothing and now that NOLA got hit, they're raking in huge Federal dollars.
I got the sense of simply measuring dicks over how dependent the states are on the Feds.
Personally, I'm a small government supporter so I would like the states to be able to handle most problems themselves but when something like Andrew, Katrina, Rita, Sandy, Harvey and everything beyond and in between happen, there is supposed to be federal money allocated for help. Otherwise, why would we bother giving the Feds any money in the first place.
I don't remember hearing about Lyin' Ted back when Sandy hit but I wouldn't doubt that a bit
I gotta admit, my favorite TX towns are San Antonio and a few south of the checkpoints.
