I'm Tired Of All The Big Mouths

We (the US) found militarily useful intel on social media, and used it to attack IS successfully.

INSTEAD of being able to keep doing this - it'd be great - We trumpet a very small win to look good in the newspapers.
I'm an IS commander. I read this and tell the troops don't post pics etc. on social media.
    Advantage gone.
    Code:
    http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/05/politics/air-force-isis-moron-twitter/index.html
Furthermore, time and time again I read articles, many from "a source not allowed to speak to the media". that actually outlines our future plans to attack an enemy, often including the timeline; detailing capabilities, troop numbers and weapons to be used! I'm always flabbergasted at this. I mean WTF? Doing this means the enemy will be ready! IS doesn't advertise what they will do, so gee whiz it's a surprise and they win!
    For example:
    Code:
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/islamic-state/11642337/Americans-cannot-save-Ramadi-from-Isil-Iraqs-strongman-militia-leader-says.html
Can someone tell me how/why this happens when it's totally against not only military but common sense?

    Don't Come to Albuquerque

Hate to say it but there it is.

    Code:
    http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/01/us/new-mexico-motel-shooting/index.html
    Code:
    http://www.kob.com/article/stories/s3810311.shtml#.VZVtM0ZFKpo
    Code:
    http://www.koat.com/news/officials-dangerous-violent-gangs-flocking-to-new-mexico/32269332
These latest examples are indicative of the way it's become here. Violent career criminals abound, and a too lenient judiciary keeps them on the streets.
Gang members flock here because unlike wiser California and Texas there are no anti-gang laws here.
Meanwhile the cops have become almost as hands off as Baltimore's are now.

If you value your life and property give my city a miss.

    Sad face.

We have reached an 'agreement' with Iran.
They can object to and delay any proposed inspection. That in itself negates any benefit of inspections.

Immediately, they, flush with cash - $100 billion or so - could import/export arms to Hamas/Hezbollah Yemen and elsewhere and redouble their well established clandestine nuclear and ballistic missile efforts.

What a win for Obama, he got his 'legacy' agreement and stuck it to his enemy Netanyahu and Israel big time.

What a horrible, sad day for the world.

Maybe Congress will deny it, be interesting to see what happens.

As horrible and nightmare an attack on Iran and it's consequences would be now, imagine having to attack a nuclear-armed Iran in the near future.

I guess it's easier to kick the can down the road.

    Sometimes I'm glad I don't have kids.

^ The majority of Americans want Congress to reject the Iran nuclear deal; seeing it as unlikely to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon in the near future.

That's one of those made up statements. Nobody's even asked the majority of Americans anything.
At best someone asked 100 people standing around the capitol the question and then extrapolated the number to 300 million other people.
It's like me asking 300 people standing around a Comic-con if they like Doctor Who, getting an answer then declaring 75% of all Americans like it.

When one of the most controversial nuclear sites in Iran gets inspected, Iran gets to use their own inspectors!

    I'm sure that'll be fine

Now we have cars that cheat on emissions! They can tell when they're being tested!

Bibi first told us that Iran's nukes were "imminent" in 1992. It's been a full generation of doom predictions at this point so I it's entirely rational to approach the issue with scepticism.

Pakistan, a Muslim majority country far poorer and more unstable than Iran, has had nukes since 1998. This is the country that a certain Osama Bin Laden was operating from before his apparent demise.

Iran's pariah position in US rhetoric comes from three mortal sins:

    1. The events of 1979, which directly involved the US.
    2. A Muslim-majority government that prefers to be openly antagonistic towards Israel rather than antagonistic only behind closed doors.
    3. Iran is on the "wrong" side of the Sunni/Shia Mohammed succession dispute. Saudi Arabia and the other US Muslim ally countries are majority Sunni, Iran is majority Shiite.

All this should not obscure the fact that Iran is seemingly a more liberal/Westernized Muslim country than any other in the Middle East excepting Turkey. If the US can get along with Saudi Arabia, a place that is by any measure a deeply illiberal Muslim theocracy, then we can find a way to get along with Iran. Our joint opposition to ISIL is a good place to get started.

Other countries have interests just as the US does and our foreign policy will not become more rational unless we are willing to recognize this fact.

“We seek the total elimination one day of nuclear weapons from the face of the Earth.”

Reagan said this after his reelection to office 30 years ago. His position is unimaginably liberal by today's standards. Who in our government dares make such a bold statement now? Those who discuss the issue today only ever worry about nukes in the "wrong hands". To deny to others a power you never question to possess for yourself is never going to be seen as anything other than self-serving.

    Guiding light decrease my pain
That I created on my own

    Blind be my eyes tonight
Hide the sight that sees in vain
Before and after is all done

And everything is in time gone
