Hope they get him fixed up and there's no lasting effects.

They have him in the same hospital my sister works at so everyone is keeping a special eye on him, and she gets a text result for every procedure they do.

Apparently she was about to whip the shit out of 2 EMT's who were being snarky until she told them she'd drag him out to the car
and take him herself, if they didn't STFU and listen to her and they took her seriously after that, and loaded him onto the ambulance.

Covid restrictions said she wasn't going to be allowed in the ER but she called her boss and said she would kick anyone's ass who told her she couldn't get in
and he went down and cleared it before the ambulance and her car got there.

About the only bad news (other than the stroke) is that he has dentures and they've lost his dentures and that's a big thing for him.

I hope he comes out ok. Maybe the snarky emt's 'lost' his dentures.
Covid restrictions really screw things up, I haven't seen mom in weeks, they're releasing her this week and I have no idea what kind of shape she's in without seeing her

No, it was in the hospital.

One of the E.R. doctors came up to her later and said that they couldn't be lost because he put them in a denture cup.
She said "Do you know where that cup is..?" He said "no" and she said "See, I told you that they were lost."

All in all he's considered family because she works there so, they aren't sending any newer staff in. (they are a training hospital).
He's getting the people that have worked there for 20-30 years coming in to evaluate and treat him.

She's going to make a call later this morning and see if maybe the place that made his dentures might still have a mold on file. (I have no idea how that stuff works)
The good news is that the hospital will pay for it since they lost them.

They probably just misfiled them and the cup is sitting on a shelf
somewhere amidst jars of extracted foreign objects.

    Mildly inconvenienced.

The microwave went out yesterday and this morning my monitor has VCR tracking like flicker on the bottom edge of it.

We do have backups but the monitor's color/brightness is only about 3/4 of what the old one was (even after adjustments),
and the microwave can get fingerprints on it from across the room and it's one of those push button to open ones instead of the handle,
and the button is so sturdy you have to grab the microwave to open it, otherwise it slides back on the counter.

They both were what we had before the Mother-in-law passed, and the way finances look right now...these aren't going to be replaced any time soon.

We knew the old one was dying because the glass turntable kept turning when the door was open.

there's nothing like a pandemic to bring out the best of us brits

it would be impossible to count the number of people i see every day not giving even a quarter of a fuck about anyone else around them - when shopping centres (malls) are plastered with signs, barriers and decals instructing people to follow a temporary one way system, we brits really come through with our "fuck that, i'm british, i'll do what i want" mentality

literally every 2 metres in my local shopping centre, the decals on the floor tell everyone exactly which way they should be walking in order to maintain a healthy distance from those around you - every day, more and more people decide the signs are only there for other people

several times a day, i find myself walking straight at these people like an exocet, trying to snap them out of their glazed zombiism - it rarely works, so the people in question usually get a ripe comment as i lunge towards them at the last (and, oh, i can do ripe comment)

then you've got the people who think it's okay to stop and have a chat in the middle of walkways of currently restricted width, and all the other idiots

i really do think it should be legal for me to carry a large axe around with me to helpfully aid people work out exactly how the foot flow is supposed to work and where they should be walking

    or maybe .......

i'm more than willing to put myself up for that job, if and when it becomes available

what's it like in your countries? - are people generally considerate of others? - do social distancing procedures work where you are and do people actually follow them?
