saudi arabia surely were pants as well - no argument there, but no great shock either

nigeria can be and should have been much better - they have the players and pedigree to challenge, they just didn't get going

a rampant russia rode the wave of home nation advantage to record a memorable win - croatia pretty much only had to show up

iceland, meanwhile, should really have taken 3 points from their encounter with argentina - it's a joy to watch them give it a go

    I'm disappointed but not surprised.
They have played like in the games against Austria and Saudi-Arabia.
    slow,careless and imprecise.
And a better team as Mexico has made 3 or 4 goals.

i was getting worried for a moment there - england were looking halfway decent - lots of creativity and energy

then came the 2nd half and they reverted to type - normal service is resumed, everyone can relax .....

i felt heartily sorry for the tunisian keeper whose world cup was perhaps over after 11 minutes tho

So the only european nations who lost their games are Germany and Poland.
We have a big polish community here and they are disappointed like we now.

While it is sad for the Polish, German and Columbian fans; it's great for the neutrals and for the sport. If every game went with the seedings, we wouldn't bother to watch, would we? Good old Japan, Mexico and Senegal. Feel sorry for Morocco. With a bit of luck they could have have drawn. They played some nice football, too.

i hope nobody pulled argentina out of the hat in the broken world cup sweepstake - all but on the plane home already if this is the best they can do

the only saving grace is that argentina play the lacklustre nigeria next, but their fate is out of their own hands ......

After today's game, I would prefer to see Nigeria win. Argentina were truly awful and don't deserve to go anywhere except to the plane home.
