Question The Confederate Flag. Yes Or No?

Should the USA keep the Flag or Ban it?

Strange question coming from a Brit, huh?

When I was a kid, like many others I collected Bubble gum cards. Hard to do in the UK because there was never much stock and not many kids collecting the cards. I did manage to complete two collections, Flags Of The World and The American Civil War. Consequently I know quite a bit about the events that took place, knowledge that has grown over the years.

Anyway, back to the controversial flag.

I'm not really sure how Americans feel about it, but for myself, someone who is impartial, the answer comes easily.

It was a war, and that Flag should have been buried with the fallen.

Imagine if Germany still flew the Swastika symbol all over the country. Unthinkable. I feel the same way about the Confederate Flag.

But hey, I'm just a Limey. How do the rest of you feel about it?

    ^^^^

agree 100% with what Jag said. With that being said I don't know where this country is going with it's rights (Constitution type stuff) what rights do you have and what don't you have, are they applied differently depending on where you are, what time it is, what race you are, what religion you are, what company you have with you at the time, how much you have in the bank, etc etc etc?

I grew up in the South where the confederate flag was basically everywhere. It flies at the state capitol, or did.
It was replicated on t-shirts, car tags, mugs, photographs, etc. I imagine it still is. Or will be until it becomes law and then is heavily enforced. And I think it WILL have to be heavily enforced. The people there who claim to love that flag and what it stands for won't take it's banning lightly. (that's disconcerting) I fear that a lot of people will see it's banning on the same level as someone trying to take away their firearms.

I never liked the idea of what it stood for when I lived there and I like it even less now that I live in another country. But that being said, a lot of my personal views have changed since moving.

Well, this one was a trap, of sorts.

The Rebel flag that flies across the USA is NOT The Confederate Flag.

That particular Flag was the Battle flag of the Army of Northern Virginia.

There are three versions of the Confederate Flag that all contain large areas of white. The reason for the white areas are well documented, and somewhat obvious. Way too offensive for me to want to document at my beloved Broken.

So, remember, what we are talking about is a rebel battle flag, NOT the true confederate flag(s).

    Ain't education a wonderful thing ..........

Psssh! Pansy eggheads... next you'll be telling me that Jesus wasn't white... and that his name wasn't Jesus...

A similar issue came up recently when I was investigating the game World of Warships. WWII Japanese ships feature prominently in the game but aren't rendered with their proper naval ensign due to (alleged) complants from South Koreans gamers.
    Signs will arrive tonight
    Guiding light decrease my pain
That I created on my own

    Blind be my eyes tonight
Hide the sight that sees in vain
Before and after is all done

And everything is in time gone
