3 inches of snow overnight tonight. Then 5 to 8 inches of snow changing to freezing rain Saturday into Sunday.. They say we could get more a quarter of an inch of ice on top of the snow.

To top it off the temperature will drop to @0 F Sunday and Monday night.

I just hope the power stays on.

Anybody here in Australia? They're having a "warm" summer down under. Like 40C. One place had 36C minimum nightime temperature! And it ain't over yet.

    Me too, stay warm Jenny.

Our recent cold/snow/ice adventure here has prompted me to consider the purchase of portable propane heaters and lamps that do not use electricity so I can keep my mom alive at her home in the event of interruption of natural gas and/or elec. supply in the winter.
I work sometimes with a propane guy/hardware store owner who I met, and I can get the hardware plus the propane at a good discount.

Later it struck me, I can use the heaters to heat my shop too! - it's mostly abandoned during the winter months, even being insulated it's just too cold, and trying to use electric heaters would be way too much $. With propane I could heat it for at least a few hours each day economically.

    I'm gonna do it.

Phil (the new governor) declared a state of emergency now. In other words "stay the hell off the roads"

It's not so much the snow that bothers me, it's the changeover to freezing rain and high winds that they say we're going to get. With all the rain we've had in recent months, we have the potential for trees coming down and we have a lot of trees where I live.

Just in case we don't luck out this time, if I'm off line for a bit, the weather will be the reason.

80% chance of rain, cloudy and there's currently a really nice light rain happening. Nothing major.
