We are a little higher on the humidity (13-15%) but swamp coolers also work amazingly well when it's 75 degrees at 10PM.

I'll probably keep it on until 11PM or so and shut it off, though I'll probably turn it on for 5-10 minutes every couple of hours until I go to bed.
This is an older house so it tends to get fairly warm in here if we leave it entirely off.

I'm toying with the idea of installing a line-voltage stat for the pump.
However it's not an exact science, drying out and then wetting the pads takes time, and you may want to turn the fan off too etc.
Also the stat that would work with alexa is like $150, so maybe next year..

It's a decent 87F at 9PM so it isn't too bad but it was 97F today and I was in and out of the house all day
and I just couldn't drink enough water/tea/soda...etc to satisfy my thirst today.

It'll only get worse from here...at least it's still cool at night.

I can't figure out why 105 gets that HOT sign but 104 and 103 don't.

it becomes more clear if you convert those numbers to celsius:

    104 F = "are you shitting me, bro?" C

whereas the additional degree pushes it over to:

105 F = "are you fucking shitting me, bro?" C

I guess they put "hot" to spare people from inscrutable meteorological terminology.

I was talking to one of my Texas friends on Facebook and their weather is almost as hot plus they have that "crushing humidity" thing that I don't miss at all.

Here our humidity is a whopping 4% and in downtown San Antonio it's 42%.
