I saw that someone posted the trailer yesterday but I thought it was just the normal show.

I'll admit that I didn't see that one coming.

I honestly couldn't stand the show even as a young kid, so I think I'll skip the movie.

Imagine if we had evolved on a moon of Saturn, or close to a bright Nebula, or above the plane of the galaxy, or close to the galactic center, what a view there would be! The Milky Way can be awesome in dark skies, but we kinda got screwed in the cosmic view lottery.

back in the '90s, one night I was in the right place at the right
time to see some of the aurora australis - which looked a bit like
the interaction between a laser harp and a smoke machine.

I also remember staying up to see Halley's Comet, but I don't think
    we got a good view.

there's too much stuff i don't understand these days

in the uk, we have a report of a schoolkid getting sent out of class for arguing there are only 2 genders, male and female - that's never seemed an unreasonable assertion in my mind but apparently no

to me, "gender" has always denoted which biological/physical group you're in - the definition was always synonymous with sex, with the structure of your chromosomatic build - today, it means something more along the lines of how you see yourself socially

official forms now carry questions such as "male/female/other?"

more and more, i feel like jean-luc counting lights

I take the view that you can never truly know the mind or heart
of another, so even if it is unfathomable to me, I accept that others
may wish to identify as 'other'.

It seems we now have sex, which is almost always determined by chromosomes and is binary, and gender, which is whatever the person identifies as. Personally, I don't care what people identify as, provided they don't wish me to accept it as anything other than a subjective choice. Just because I identify as a Martian does not make it so. But please treat me as a Martian and go along with my identity, otherwise you might damage my fragile ego.
