Phone service is sh*t again so there's a technician coming out tomorrow to work on the line.
Hopefully they won't notice that I've been getting 50 mbps speed instead of 20 mbps on the internet speed but I'm not hopeful.

    I was really enjoying that.

We are trying a "test kitty" out as a potential second cat in the house.
A grey/white longhair female kitty we've named Hopalong (but Hoppy for short) because she hops around when she's happy and it was a cute name.
The previously jealous house cat seems to take to her a lot better than he did to the two previous males we tried this with, though he tried to nip her when she tried to cuddle up to him,
and he tried to play a bit rough with her earlier and those nails come out when he plays.

She's still pretty young and tiny (clearly was the runt of the litter) so she's sleeping in a converted shoebox.
She's too small for chemical flea/tick treatments or shampoos yet so we gave her a bath today and combed her really well and the bugs were slim to minimal.
She scratches but we've been holding her for a week or two and we haven't noticed any fleas nor has the cat/dog been troubled.

If she works out, we'll eventually get her shots, spayed and the other things indoor cats get but it depends on how the indoor cat takes it.

P.S. Already cleaned up one poop but we are going to start working on it tomorrow.
Picking it up and putting it in the litter box and getting her in there and also noticing the other cat doing it.

Tonight the 3 of us will be sleeping in the guest bedroom/my computer room to not disturb hubby, and hopefully work out any trouble beforehand.
Usually indoor kitty sleeps by my feet so maybe kitty and her shoebox by my head and me making sure I'm careful when I turn over in case she gets out.

Real Player? Wow!! That was the scummiest piece of legal malware ever. Remember all those "updates" that installed crap you didn't want?

    I was really enjoying that.
The guy came out and fixed the phone line and now the internet is garbage. (speed's great when it works)
It cuts in and out and the tech support guy is telling me that it's showing nothing's wrong on their end.
So my line is being "optimized" (buzzword) and it will be monitored for 3 days and if it doesn't correct itself, I'm supposed to call back on Monday.

He tried to reset my speed back to 20mbps but he said he was told that the extra speed was meant to make sure it pushed the signal through,
and the system wouldn't let him reset the speed.

From day one, occasionally I have to reboot the modem because it seems like the internet just stops
and even though my lights are all lit up green, I can't get through so I would reboot and it would be fine for a good long while or maybe even all day.
Well now it works and then it stops, maybe it will start back up and maybe I have to reboot.
all while the guy is telling me that he can't detect any of it.

He tried the old "you might need to buy another modem" gimmick but this has happened since it was new.
I find it highly unlikely that it just happened to get worse after the tech was out here to fix our phone line though.

It's only supposed to get down to 39-40F tonight but it's pretty windy so we were going to bring the test kitty "Hoppy" in
but she never showed up later this evening, only earlier at suppertime.

The larger cat she hangs around with that may or may not be her Mama was around but the little one was absent,
so as cold as it is...I keep going out every couple of hours with a flashlight to see if she curled up by herself in the wrong place.
Limited to the yard and surrounding area because I don't want to get shot, skulking around other people's property.

After a night or two inside, we decided that due to her small size, we'd take integrating her into the house slowly
because the much larger house cat tries to play with her at full strength and she's pretty fragile.
She's still in the house several times a day for canned meat, kibble and milk and she's starting to be a lot less bony than she was but she's still pretty scrawny.

I'm fairly sure I'll see her in the front yard in the morning but I worry about her because she's the one that needs the most help.
