My mother has now just pulled through from almost dying from the 2nc vaccine shot. I don't really blame the shot but mostly her condition.
Her shoulder was giving her tremendous pain in the days after the shot. Be advised that 2nd shot can be a doozy. It put both her and me through Hell - I was caring for her at home at the time. Now she's in the hospital and will be transferred to a skilled nursing place - again. Her condition has deteriorated and she is now deemed unresponsive. After the insurance runs out it'll be back home.
I can't visit her, at the hospital or at the facility. She can't use the phone.

I'm not exactly eager to get the vaccine after this.

Had a nice long talk with my Mother's Doctor today. She is really cool.
Along with a list of other problems Mom has a blood infection that has reached the area of her heart that her pacemaker is attached to, preventing the pacemaker from working. The procedure to fix this is drawn out and complicated, involving 2 surgeries. She is not responding to antibiotics so the surgeries would almost surely be useless anyway.
Considering her condition I decided there will be no surgery and the antibiotics have been stopped.

If you live in an area that has the coronavirus variant identified in Kent (the "English virus", technical name B.1.1.7), a few things to be aware of:

1. It's much, much easier to catch. The precautions you were taking with the original version of the virus may not work. Avoid people if possible - always sensible advice
2. This variant results in higher levels of hospitalisation, across all age groups; those affected get sicker and stay longer in hospital
3. The only good news is that the death rate seems to be lower, but spread across all age groups.

I'm not afraid one iota of getting the shot, and I probably have reason to be. I have an enlarged heart and two other "pre-existing" conditions. I spent half of 2019 in a hospital bed, half of that in ICU. I have died twice, been intubated for a month, went through kidney failure, a collapsed lung, multiple UTI's, and on top of all that, had a bed sore right on the top of my ass crack. You don't know how irritating that was. More irritating than the catheter stuck up my junk. As a result of all the breathing tubes, my voice sounds like I gargle sandpaper every morning.

But I know that anything sevenfold deadlier than influenza-A will at last put me back in that condition, if not worse. I ain't going back there. I'm not afraid of dying, but I'd like to avoid it if I can. I'm sure there are people who disagree with me about that; they can piss off.

So with all that said, the idiots running this state still think I need to wait to get vaccinated...'cause I'm not old enough. Fucking people.
