Lunch was half of a lower sodium turkey breast lunch meat & cheese sandwich on whole wheat w/ mustard, a 1/2 banana and a half bag of cauliflower.

Actually it was pretty good. much lower sodium (close to half) but it still tasted good.
The company has another lower sodium one but it's honey ham so I don't think I'll be trying that one.

The kid and I are sans Hubby tonight so we hit the Burger King drive thru.
He had a double cheeseburger and fries and I had a cheeseburger (plain with no bun) and a garden side salad w/ the skinny girl dressing I use here at home.
I didn't even steal a single fry from him.

Context is everything here. My mom is in her middle eighties. Broke her hip last Aug and rehabbed for a month at a nursing home. If you've been here (and I KNOW some of you have) this will likely sound familiar. <--Root word FAMILY! As she resettled home my older sister and I have been sharing the meal prep. One night I made an herb seasoned chicken breast with mushroom gravy whipped potatoes mixed veg. She ate most of it and then stopped.
Quietly, while wiping her mouth with the napkin says with a kind of half sigh, "You know I just realized something after all these years - I FUCKING HATE Chicken!."She did not even raise her voice, just the emphasized the words, quietly.
Tonight I made organic chicken thighs, and by her request, sliced red beets and cranberry sauce on the side. The chicken thighs are something she's made for well over 40 years or more. The sliced beets and cranberry sauce was a new weirdness of hers just for this occasion.
She ate it all.![]()
Why would I make her chicken again?
Because last night she had, courtesy my sister, two whopper juniors, a chocolate shake and...
She went for it all in and the burp was thunderous!
And chicken tonight?She's 5'3' and 110 pounds.
For my part, the older I get the less I know....
Tomorrow, I'm making steak. With bourbon!![]()
I have met a few people over the years that don't like any form of chicken which surprises me due to its mild flavor.
This new diet has taken a lot of getting used to, but at least chicken is one of the good foods I can have.
Normal but a bit low on the BMI but considering her age, that's not a surprise.
Less weight will be good for that hip though.

I'm one of those who doesn't like chicken - never really liked it and then suffered from massive overexposure - chicken on the menu every day for 9 months. I pretty much became vegetarian.
Tonight? Pork chop marinaded in red wine with home made noodles and Brussels sprouts from the garden. Apple crumble and custard to follow.
With apologies to those who can't/shouldn't/wouldn't eat some or all of the above. I like my food! And, I did not put on weight over Christmas.
I was surprised. All I could say to her at the time was, "More than eight decades on the Planet and you are just figuring this out now?"
I finally got this today and it's an interesting flavor, I like it. It has some good bite, and it's just McCormick. I think I'll add a bit of my red chile powder and see what it does.
It tastes like it could be good with chicken, pork or vegetables, curry beef sounds weird to me but it seems popular too.
I'll try it as part of a dry rub for grilling chicken.
*Ooh, I just thought, it'd be good with cauliflower I betcha. And you can make curry sauces, too.
