I love fish generally, salmon cod pollock etc. I mostly wait till it's on sale then bread and bake it. I ruin the healthy with tartar sauce but could eat it without.
It's one of the reasons I'd love to have a deep fryer......yum.....imagine fried chicken too.....and the french fries, learn to fry them twice and be just like McD's......ooohhhh.......and they're only like $40...

Can't do it. It'd be 400 pounds and an early probably Elvis type death. But what a way to go.

Out of curiosity I wonder if any of you have/had a deep fryer and what was your experience with it.

if I deep-fry it is done in a wok. Don't eat deep-fryable stuff enough
    to consider a dedicated fryer.

I switched it up on breakfest a little bit this morning.

Instant oatmeal (w/ a little milk, margarine and equal) & the usual chunk of cheese and a hard boiled egg.

I'm not a fan of oatmeal but it was the lowest carb hit out of all the hot breakfast mushes and having the same thing every morning was getting boring.

I'll make up a little buckwheat pancake batter tonight and have 2 of them with a couple of sunny side up eggs on top in the morning.

Baby hair with a woman's eyes, I can feel you watching in the night..
All alone with me and we're waiting for the sunlight, when I feel cold you warm me...
When I feel I can't go on you come and hold me, it's you and me forever...

Sara Smile, won't you smile a while for me?

I made the guys cheese omelettes tonight with bacon, tater tots & regular wheat toast on the side.

I had chicken breast strips, peas for my starchy veggies & California style veggies for the regular ones, and a half banana for dessert.

I would have liked an omelette too but having veggie sides with breakfast food is just wrong in every way possible.

I could eat one if it's a whole wheat one (the ones I have are 19g per tortilla)

There's a lot of carbs in the tortilla regardless of whether it's whole wheat or flour/corn, and the white flour/corn ones just spike the shit out of a diabetic's blood sugar.
Whole wheat is a complex carbohydrate that takes the body longer to break down keeping blood sugars more consistent,
and don't even get me started on the glycemic index/glycemic load.

    If you're interested here's a little reading.

    Code:
    https://www.everydayhealth.com/diet-nutrition/diet/good-carbs-bad-carbs/
This doesn't really get into the diabetes part of it, though the glycemic index/glycemic load does apply,
but the carb parts of it are accurate and it's easier to understand it.

Mind you, I'm still EXTREMELY new at this so B or any other diabetics might come along and correct any errors or assumptions I've made.

Tonight was a thin hamburger patty (93% lean/7% fat) w/ a small bit of shredded cheese, green peas (starch) and a 1/2 bag of Italian cut green beans for my regular veggies.

    About 26 carbs.

If you look at most of the winners, it's almost never the fat guy who wins..it's always the scrawny one who looks like he needs 50 hot dogs.

Today's lunch was a pretty good tuna salad if I do say so myself...tuna in water, eggs, 1 tbsp of dill relish, a few chopped onions & just enough Duke's mayo to get it to stick together.
There are reduced fat and fat free mayos but every single one of them use sugar or HFCS to make up for the loss of the fat, so that's not an option for me.
It took me a couple of tries with this but I think I finally got it tasty and fairly healthy for me.

I had the tuna salad on a whole wheat tortilla, some peas that I need to get rid of for my starch (I'll be looking for a much smaller can/bag of peas)
and the leftover asparagus spears from dinner last night.

Warmed up spears are edible, just very mushy.
In the future, I'm just going to eat the whole 8 oz bag in one sitting, it really isn't too many to do that. (about 10-12 carbs)
I think I got about 6-8 spears apiece in these meals and that isn't anywhere near a half plate of vegetables.

Finished up the tuna salad (no bread or tortilla), and the last (that I'm going to eat anyway) of those peas, some asparagus spears & half a banana for 30-ish carbs.

When I went to the store today, I switched it up and got a bag of butternut squash for my starchy veggies, and it looks like I can get 4 meals out of it.

Also bought those tiny ass yellow roasting potatoes I was looking for so 3 is about 18g carbs so I or two should work fine, depending on what the rest of the meal is carb-wise.

P.S. I didn't pay attention to the price of those asparagus spears last time.
At 2.89 for an 8 ounce bag, I'm not eating it all in one sitting so less veggies for those 2 meals.
