we used to make shepherd's pie or shepherd's pie with beef by
labouriously putting leftover roast meat through the grinder on
    a mixmaster:

now we just use a food processor and it's takes less than a minute.
    Easier to clean, too.

shepherd's pie here is most definitely the lamb variety, hence the shep bit - we would tend to say cottage pie if made with beef - or occasionally, in the pages of kids' comics:

    but that's just us ......

admittedly, aside from the name, i can easily see it from an american point of view - it calls to mind visions of rugged herders driving their pack of steer across the dusty plains of santa monica boulevard ...... or wherever it is you guys keep your cattle

Being from Wales and therefore a world expert on sheep, I can confirm that Shepards Pie is lamb and Cottage pie is beef.
Although, it does sort of make sense to me that Shepards pie should really be beef.

A shepard that kills and eats their own flock seems like they might be missing the point of the job... but looking at the field next door where those other b...stards are grazing their cows, they might just shoot the odd one and haul it off for a satisfying pie.

Yes, but we know what Welsh farmers do to those sheep (we've all heard the jokes) so we make ours out of beef.

Baby hair with a woman's eyes, I can feel you watching in the night..
All alone with me and we're waiting for the sunlight, when I feel cold you warm me...
When I feel I can't go on you come and hold me, it's you and me forever...

Sara Smile, won't you smile a while for me?

It was the kid's night to pick, so we had 2 Little Caesar's pizzas.

One was the regular classic pepperoni, the 2nd was Slices-N-Stix - half pepperoni pizza, the other half is made into 8 Italian cheese stix w/ crazy sauce.

We finished up the macaroni salad from yesterday so everything wouldn't be pizza based.

In a surprise change to my usual Chinese takeaway, I had Roast Duck Cantonese style, which was quite tasty and the leftovers have just been scoffed for lunch.

I thought I had bought the chicken and cheese ones, which are less lethal, but no. Dipped in my red chile sauce with cheese these haven't killed me yet and come within hailing distance of being edible if you have low standards
